Hello! I’m Lauren Tyson, a specialist speech and language therapist based in Southwater, Horsham, West Sussex.

With over 17 years’ experience, I offer supportive, evidence-based stammering speech therapy for children and adults in person and online across the United Kingdom.

Stammering is a subject close to my heart, inspired by my father who is a person who stammers. My career has been dedicated to creating safe, judgment-free spaces where stammering is accepted, valued and understood. I help children and adults who stammer speak more easily and confidently, supporting authentic and meaningful communication.

While my main focus is stammering therapy, I occasionally take on other referrals where it feels like a good fit, always with the aim of supporting authentic and joyful communication.

If you would like to explore how therapy could help, I would love to hear from you.

Lauren is an exceptional speech and language therapist, and we wholeheartedly recommend her. Her patience, kindness, and encouragement have made a tremendous impact on our son, who has been under her care for approximately five years. Lauren’s organisational skills, preparedness, and swift follow-up demonstrate her commitment to providing excellent service. (March 2024)

Lauren was everything I hoped she would be, really helped with my confidence and acceptance. I enjoyed every session and that even though it’s a sensitive subject for me it never felt like it. (September 2022)

Lauren’s communication was very professional and smooth from start to finish, including the setting up of our session and the technical practicalities for example; everything was very clear! It was also reassuring to hear all about Lauren’s extensive experience and training (1/2) (March 2026)

Lauren was very easy-going in nature which made the session flow in a comfortable way. I really appreciated being asked what sort of style (i.e. being told vs questioned) would be preferable as well as Lauren taking the time to follow up with practical resources, which have already been useful (2/2) (March 2026)

We would highly recommend Lauren to others dealing with stammering. She’s very knowledgeable and really cares. (July 2019)

Lauren is friendly and personable. She is informative to us as parents while being fun and engaging for our son. (July 2019)

Lauren is reliable and knowledgeable. She liaises closely with staff at school as well as parents to ensure the best support is provided for the child. Lauren is flexible; fitting in with school routines and schedules. (July 2019)

She’s very consistent, and caring when working with my child and he can be very fussy with people but he took to her (Lauren) very easily. (July 2019)
